Due to the ‘soft ban’ of Telegram in Vietnam in May, our Da Nang group can no longer read and post on Telegram channel. So we came up with some solutions for our members in Vietnam:

Free tools:

1. Proton VPN (free version), or you can get the paid version for 90% discount (VPN Plus) as of May 2025 https://protonvpn.com/pricing
2. FreeSocks proxies: You can use it with Outline Client App Shaowsocks. Follow the steps here: https://freesocks.org/docs/setup/ (could someone test it in Da Nang?)

Paid VPNs that work:

In principle all VPN should work; our members have used these ones and know they work well in Da Nang: e.g. Express VPN, Tunnelbear.

What to do in the future:

Since Telegram has been banned in several other countries before and the ban was short lived, we hope the ban will be lifted if Telegram address the concerns from the local government.

But if the ban is persistent, we might need to migrate everyone onto a different platform e.g. Whatsup.
